There are a confusing array of laser machines used in hair removal businesses - here is a short explanation of the chief kinds of laser machines in use at present, together with details of their pluses and minuses.

Why is Laser Type Important?
If you are considering laser hair reduction treatment then it is important for you to understand the different kinds of laser machines in use because more often than not clinics or beauty salons in your locality will have one variety of machine and will be marketing it specifically - rather than counseling you which is the best variety for YOU.

Lasers and Hair / Skin Type
The best machine to use for you will vary depending on a number of factors, importantly your type of skin. Some systems are more or less unsafe for certain skin and hair types, and using them results in you taking a higher than normal possibility of side effects such as burning or skin discoloration.

For other skin and hair types, certain lasers will produce longer lasting results than others and can be used without any danger - so a really good idea to use the best ones that can produce prime long lasting results.

Laser Type: Alexandrite
Alexandrite laser hair removal machines are very successful for light-skinned, dark-haired customers; you should steer clear of Alexandrite laser hair removal machines if you have darker skin.

Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) Systems
This is not really a laser. IPL hair removal systems can successfully treat many kinds of customer. You can get excellent results with IPL machines, but it is less predictable - a lot hangs on the experience and ability of the laser machine operator.

Diode Lasers
The Diode laser machines are especially suitable for light-skinned customers and may be successful on other skin and hair types. It is not certain how long lasting the results are likely to be with these kinds of system.

Nd:Yag Lasers
The Nd:Yag laser machines can successfully treat darker skin types with minimal risk. However, because they are specifically designed to guard dark skin from suffering burns, they are less successful on fine hair growth. You should not select an Nd:Yag machine if you have very pale skin.

Ruby Lasers
Only really suitable for very pale skin, the long-term results of Ruby laser machines are well documented, so you can reasonably anticipate a permanent reduction in hairiness after treatment. However, these machines are quite outmoded now so probably not as effectual as the newer Alexandrite laser machines.

Conclusion
Now that you understand all about the differing laser hair removal machines that are in use at present, you will be in a better position to talk about your treatment with the clinics in your locality and select the most suitable one for your particular type of skin.
