Teenagers make up the largest group of people that are affected by acne, and women are the next largest group. It is not only ugly and embarrassing, but it affects people psychologically, too. Acne is a skin disorder that has no cure, but it can be controlled with special treatments. These are the things you need to know about acne.

Don't scrub your face. Wash it gently with a mild soap. Scrubbing hurts and does more harm than good. Wash your face when you get up in the morning and before you go to bed, unless your face gets dirty or you sweat in between those times. Washing too often is not good for your skin, and it could make your acne worse.

Normally the old cells mix with the oil and slough off. In some people these dead cells don't slough, but become sticky and form a plug that traps bacteria and oil inside of the pore. The sebaceous glands continue to form more oil causing the pore to swell, and eventually form a pimple that shows on the face.

It is important for you to understand the causes and treatments of acne. Having this knowledge will allow you to come up with a plan to deal with your skin problem and keep it under control.

It's best to keep your hands away from your face. Your hands have bacteria on them from things that you touch. Even though you may wash them often, you can never get rid of all of the bacteria. You don't want to risk getting an infection on your face.

Even if it bothers you when your pimples form white heads, don't pop them. The best thing you can do is rub a little bit of aloe vera gel on the top. The aloe vera will dry them up, and they will disappear on their own.

Remember that even though the benzoyl peroxide kills the bacteria that is present on your face, it doesn't mean that you won't have any more acne. You will need to continue to treat the areas that are more prone to clogged pores.

This product does have some side effects. It can dry out the skin and cause it to become scaly. You may also notice redness of the skin and it may itch. Since Benzoyl Peroxide will bleach clothes and linens, be sure your face is completely dry before you touch any material.

These seven tips about acne that you need to know are easy to put in practice. Remember that everyone's skin is different, and all of the tips may not work well for you. You will need to try each one and see which ones bring the desired results. Watch for the improvements to begin.
