Italian Badger Kabuki Brush Review

Mineral makeup provides healthy ingredients for your skin and a great look for your face. But, the makeup wouldn't be as beautiful if it wasn't applied well. Kabuki brushes are made for mineral makeup application. One such brush is the Italian badger kabuki brush.

Kabuki brushes are the application tool of choice when applying mineral makeup. They come in natural hair and synthetic bristle brushes. The synthetic brushes are cheaper but can irritate the skin of makeup wearers with sensitive skin.

Natural hair brushes cost a little more but are a delight for those with sensitive skin. The brush is softer and less prone to cause irritation. One of the more popular hair types is the Italian badger kabuki brush.

What sets these brushes apart?

Have you ever seen a badger? They are cute animals related to weasels. You might have heard of their cousin, the sable. Natural brushes are made from their hairs as well. Badgers around the world come in different colors but have the same look: they have a white face with a colored streak on either side of their nose.

Some think that Italian badger hair is softer than other natural hairs. The softer bristles allow it to be used for several makeup applications: blushes, bronzers and foundations. The entire brush is extremely dense to avoid excess spreading of the bristles and rogue hairs that won't stay uniform. An intact brush gives even coverage to your face.

In case you are a person who loves animals and are concerned about such products, you can breathe a sigh of relief. The Italian badger is not harmed during the making of the brushes. This kabuki brush is purely cruelty-free.

What do these brushes look like?

There is a distinct coloring with Italian badger kabuki brushes. You might say that they resemble their animal of origin. These kabuki mineral makeup brushes are white with black tips. In the Italian badger line, there are several brushes to be used for applying the mineral makeup powders:

Kabuki fan brush

Kabuki flat top brush

Kabuki dome brush

Short kabuki deluxe brush

All of the brushes have soft hairs that will spread your makeup just the way you like it. The short kabuki deluxe brush is the one most often used. The makeup extends the length of the hair so that not much is needed and there is no excess powder to collect in fine lines or wrinkles. The result is a smooth flawless look.

Anything else?

Taking care of your Italian badger kabuki brush is the key to a long life for your makeup applicator. Since it is an animal hair brush you might notice a slight smell. That will go away with cleaning. You can even clean your brush before your first use.

Since the Italian kabuki makeup brush is made from natural hairs, use the same shampoo for your head on the makeup brush. Rinse the brush in clear water and squeeze out any excess. Shake and separate the bristles before drying it.

Spring 2009 Makeup Trends

April 8, 2009 by · Leave a Comment

by Marilyn Etzel

Well, spring is almost here. As the winter clothes come off, a new you waits to burst forth. No one wants to greet the warmer weather unless they look their best. You can put your best face and foot forward with this forecast for the spring 2009 makeup season.

What do people notice about you first? Is it the look of your eyes? If so, then give them something to dazzle them. The smoky look is in this season. That mysterious look works for day and evening activities. Men like a woman who hides secrets behind her eyes.

Want the smoky look but don't know how to get it? Start by applying a dark shade of eye liner to your upper and lower eye lids along the lash line. On the upper lid, use a metallic or pastel shade of color. Smudge the two together on the upper lid and slightly smudge the lower liner to create the look you want.

False eyelashes can further draw attention to your eyes and that smoldering look you've created. Falsies have always been behind the scenes but they are once again taking center stage. When using them, apply the longer lashes on the outer edge of the eyelid.

This smoky look can be toned down during the day by keeping your makeup overall soft and natural. Use mineral makeup to do the trick. It contains a mineral blend designed to enhance your skin's health. As your body temperature rises, the minerals melt into your skin for a more seamless look. There are no streaks or telltale makeup lines.

Mineral makeup has more than one color. You can find several beautiful shades for cheeks, eyes and foundation. Use a foundation always before applying any other makeup to your face. Mineral makeup has the distinction of being healthy for your skin and hiding little imperfections. In blush, choose warmer tones like pinks for your face. It brings out the warmer highlights in each person's skin tone.

It's okay to shimmer. Add a bit of sparkle to your eye color as well as your blush. Opt for crmes that contain shimmering ingredients to give your skin that sun kissed look.

What about those lips? The trend has always been to go for bold and that meant the blood red look. This season, make a statement with a more kissable look enhanced with shades of peach and pink. Don't forget to line your lips in the same shade as your lip color. The days of dark lip liner paired with red lips are long gone.

The soft look of lips is complemented with a softer look to the eyes. Stick with one coat of mascara so you don't look like you are trying out for a part in a horror movie. Lighter shades of eye color like lilac also add to the simple yet sexy look.

You can add color if you like to live on the edge. Dull skin can be brought back to life with pouty red lips. Complete that look with a swipe of blush just below the cheekbone, sweeping from the nose out towards the ears.

Throw off that winter face with darker metallic tones and go for pretty but simple. This spring you can add some color while keeping the natural look to your face.

Why Buy Mineral Makeup: Health and Beauty Benefits

February 3, 2009 by · 1 Comment

Mineral makeup has really taken off in the past twenty years. At first, everyone was skeptical about a makeup that claimed to provide so many benefits in one jar. This article discusses some of the health and beauty benefits of wearing mineral makeup you might not have known.

Mineral makeup comes with claims that they work for all skin tones and skin types. The mineral makeup hides is supposed to hide imperfections and help women put forth their best face possibleand with the growing popularity of mineral makeup, it seems it's doing just that.

Mineral makeup does it all using only natural products. When you first look at the small jar, you are reminded of traditional foundation. But, in that little jar is a product that reveals as much as it conceals.

The minerals that are the basis of most mineral cosmetics are:

Mica powder Iron oxides (adds color) Titanium dioxide

These minerals are found naturally and are ground into a fine powder. As natural products, there is less of a chance of skin irritation with mineral makeup. We, as women, are used to skin irritations from makeup. All of the chemicals and dyes in most over-the-counter beauty products clog our pores and inhibit our skin from breathing.

The nature of makeup is that after all day wear, we need to "freshen up" our face. Some cosmetics, especially foundation, can cake or settle into creases and that only increases the visibility of the flaws we want to hide. In the heat, foundation can run and create light streaks on our face. That's not putting our best face forward!

With natural mineral makeup, that is not a problem. Only a small amount of the mineral powder is applied to the face for all over coverage. The use of a Kabuki brush allows for quick and complete coverage for all skin types and tones.

Mineral makeup has several benefits:

Hides lines and wrinkles Goes on easy and stays smooth in hot weather Light coverage Works for all skin tones Provides a natural glow (comes from the bismuth oxychloride)

If you have allergies and have never worn makeup, mineral cosmetics can help you too. With no chemicals or fillers, skin isn't exposed to potentially irritation substances. Some ingredients like zinc oxide and iron oxide provide some protection against the sun's harmful rays. These products are also listed in sunscreen formulations.

Have you ever kept makeup for a long time and wondered if you should still use it? Makeup can become contaminated from continued use with the same brushes. Mineral makeup resists bacterial buildup so you can keep it for a long time without worrying about the powder getting old. For those with sensitive skin, skin disorders, or who just have trouble finding a shade to fit your skin tone, mineral makeup is a viable option.
