The Good And The News About Moisturizers For Oily Skin.

November 15, 2009 by · Leave a Comment

Moisturizers for oily skin are big business however the sad truth is that most oily skin moisturizers do very little to moisturize your skin at best and at worst can be risky to your health. This is a result of the types of ingredients used in so many mainstream skin care products today.

Most of the big name brands of skin care products that you will see on the shelves of your local store have a range of chemical and petrochemical ingredients. There are many many examples however I'll give you one which should suffice.

Mineral oil is found very commonly in an exceedingly wide range of beauty and personal products and skin care products such as moisturizers for dry skin and moisturizers for oily skin.

Mineral oil is a petrochemical product and is derived from the distillation of crude oil, but if you look on the label of the skin care products you may be using now you may not see it listed there because it can go under any one of 10 or more different names.

Mineral oil has no moisturizing properties. The intention is that it will coat the skin with a thin film of oil which will help prevent moisture loss from the skin. However mineral oil does not add any moisture to the skin, and when it forms a layer of oil over the skin it can cause problems such as acne and it can also prevent the skin from eliminating toxins through the pores.

Mineral oil has been linked to cancer as well as allergies and irritation of the skin and eyes. It can be absorbed into the body small amounts where it can create vitamin deficiency problems.

Why then is mineral oil used in so many skin care products and anti aging products such as anti aging moisturizers for oily skin? There is one simple reason. Mineral oil is exceedingly cheap, costing almost nothing.

There are many excellent alternatives to the use of mineral oil in moisturizers for oily skin or even moisturizers the dry skin. There are many natural ingredients which work exceedingly well as skin moisturizers and have been known to be effective at promoting better skin health for generations. Shea butter, avocado extract and babassu oil are 3 examples however there are many more examples of natural ingredients which are well known to be effective skin moisturizers.

And it's perfectly possible to buy outstanding natural skin care products which use ingredients like these to produce an excellent result at increasing skin moisture levels. One company in particular produces an excellent range of skin care products containing no chemical or petrochemical ingredients that work very well at promoting overall skin health and skin moisture. And this company doesn't even produce a moisturizer at all because all of it's products work equally well to improve skin moisture for anyone with oily skin problems or dry skin problems.

The obvious conclusion must be that these products are very expensive however in fact that is not the case, they are in fact extremely cost competitive. The reason is that the company that makes them doesn't engage in television advertising and so is not required to factor the cost of television advertising into the price of the product.

If you suffer from oily skin and if you're in need of an oily skin moisturizer that helps promote optimum skin health as well as skin moisture then there are excellent natural skin care products available to you right now which do exactly that. You can throw out those oily skin creams that you may have in the cupboard right now with mineral oil and other petrochemical ingredients in them.

No one with oily skin, or for that matter with dry skin, should have problems skin moisturizing. Excellent natural skin care products exist which moisturize very effectively for people with all skin types.

There’s Good News And Bad News About Moisturizers For Oily Skin.

November 13, 2009 by · Leave a Comment

Skin care products, including moisturizers for oily skin, are big business but the reality is that for people with oily skin modern mainstream skin care products such as oily skin moisturizers deliver very little and can even be risky to your health and your skin as a result of many of the chemical ingredients used in these products.

Most of the big name brands of skin care products that you will see on the shelves of your local store have a range of chemical and petrochemical ingredients. There are many many examples however I'll give you one which should suffice.

You commonly find mineral oil in a wide range of personal and beauty products including skin care products like moisturizers.

Mineral oil is a petrochemical product that is a byproduct of the distillation of crude oil. Mineral oil goes by a wide range of different names and so even if you look on the label of the skin care products you use now you may not see mineral oil listed there even though it is an ingredient in the product because it is being listed under a different name.

So why in the world would the personal and beauty products manufacturers and skin care manufacturers use mineral oil in their products? There's a simple answer, it's incredibly cheap and way cheaper than any other alternative ingredient.

There are many excellent natural alternatives to using mineral oil in products such as moisturizers for oily skin and moisturizers for dry skin. Some good examples are Avocado extract, Shea butter and Babassu oil as well as a wide range of other naturally occurring ingredients all of which have been known for some time to have excellent skin moisturizing properties and which are much more effective as skin moisturizers than mineral oil.

And it is possible to buy excellent natural skin care products which utilise ingredients such as these. One company makes outstanding range of natural skin care products which don't contain any mineral oil or other petrochemical or chemical ingredients and which work exceedingly well at promoting better skin health and optimum skin moisture. This company doesn't even produce a moisturizer because all those products moisturize exceedingly well both for oily skin and dry skin.

So clearly these natural skin care products must be very expensive if the ingredients used in them are more expensive however that is not the case. This company does not engage in any television advertising and so the cost of television advertising is not factored into the price of the products as they are in most mainstream skin care products such as oily skin creams. For this reason their natural skin care products are in fact very competitively priced.

If you have oily skin and are looking for a top shelf moisturizer for oily skin than there are now excellent natural skin care products available to you which are very effective alternatives to those oily skin creams and oily skin moisturizers containing chemical and petrochemical ingredients you may have on your shelves right now.

No one with oily skin, or for that matter with dry skin, should have problems skin moisturizing. Excellent natural skin care products exist which moisturize very effectively for people with all skin types.

If You’d Like To Reduce Wrinkles Then Find Out How To Tackle The Cause Of Wrinkles Rather Than The Effects.

November 4, 2009 by · Leave a Comment

Wrinkle reduction. It's the goal of just about every woman as she grows older and starts to notice those fine lines and wrinkles on her face and even sagging skin under her chin. However buying the best wrinkle reducer cream is only tackling the effect, not the cause.

Wrinkles form as a woman ages because the skin is losing some of it's essential skin properties. As you age your skin starts to lose some of it's supplies of collagen and elastin, both of which are 2 essential skin proteins which are very important for maintaining skin elasticity.

It's skin elasticity that helps keep your skin looking good and free of wrinkles. Lose skin elasticity and your skin starts to sag, and wrinkles are an expression of that, namely poor skin health as a result of ageing.

The obvious thing to do is to increase the supply of collagen and elastin in the skin and this should reverse the wrinkles. In fact that is the best way of reducing wrinkles however most wrinkle reducer creams do not increase supplies of elastin and collagen in your skin.

Examine the label on most bottles of wrinkle reducer creams and you will probably see elastin and collagen listed. Whilst this might seem to be a good thing it's not, because science has known for some time that molecules of elastin and collagen are too large to get into your skin and therefore applying them to the surface of the skin doesn't increase the levels of collagen and elastin in the skin at all.

It would seem silly to put them there except for one thing. This allows companies that make wrinkle reducing creams to list collagen and elastin on the label and this helps sell thousands or millions of bottles of wrinkle reducing cremes.

But there is a way to help improve the levels of collagen and elastin skin and there are skin care products that will do this successfully. One range of natural skin care products does this very well. It combines a range of natural ingredients known to improve skin health and increase the skin supply of collagen and elastin. These ingredients are naturally occurring ingredients like essences of sheeps wool and seaweed and also a range of other natural oils such as Shea butter and Babassu oil and others. These products stimulate the skin to produce more elastin and collagen itself, thereby restoring skin health.

This approach perfectly combats the cause of wrinkles. Because the cause of wrinkles is loss of skin elasticity with age due to the loss of elastin and collagen and if you replace the lost elastin and collagen skin health improves and skin elasticity returns. By tackling the cause you reduce the effects, namely skin sagging and wrinkles and your skin will also look healthier.

Despite the fact that these products have been available for some time they are not well-known. The reason is that they are made by a company cannot compete with the big name skin care brands in marketing, and it cannot afford to advertise on television. For this reason it's natural skin care products are not a household name but they have a small but dedicated and growing band of loyal customers who have tried the products and understand that it is perfectly possible to reduce wrinkles in this way.

So as you can see the very best wrinkle reducer cream tackles a cause of wrinkles, not the wrinkles themselves. These products improve skin elasticity and health and one of the major benefits is wrinkle reduction.

If you're interested to find out which small niche natural skin care company has developed these products then please visit my website.

Trouble Finding The Best All Natural Skin Care Products?

June 6, 2009 by · Leave a Comment

by Peter Albertonach

Worldwide there is a groundswell of women looking to find more natural skin care products. Millions of women are now searching out the best all natural skin care products, and for good reason.

Gradually consumers are realizing that our skin care products and cosmetics as well as many other personal products can contain harmful ingredients.

A quick example, a recent study found lead in over 50% of big brand lipsticks tested.

And it's fine to be wanting to look better or smell better, but doing that at the risk of our health isn't smart. Who wants lead on their lips?

And big name manufacturers are now recognizing this and trying to get a foothold in the natural products market.

Recently L'Oreal has purchased The Body Shop to get a toehold in the natural personal products market.

Now lets consider skin care. Firstly, what does "all natural" mean when applied to skin care? Well there is no definition of natural for either cosmetics or skin care or other products.

All natural is a general term. It can mean what you want it to mean and so one all natural skin care line may well have ingredients in it that are suspect to some people.

So what do we do if we're looking for the best all natural skin care products and there are some out there which can still contain potentially nasty ingredients?

If you're looking for a "natural" product it's pretty sure you're looking for a product what works well and is SAFE.

So once we recognize this we can use this information to find what we want.

So, how do we find these products? Lets look at how we determine if a product should be safe. There is a website called the cosmetic safety database. It considers the health risks inherent in a wide range of cosmetics and skin care products and more. It rates the potential health risks of various ingredients in these products.

So you can look at any product and search the ingredients to see if they are considered unsafe to health. You could search "parabens" for example, (a popular chemical preservative) and see what risks parabens pose.

The find the website for the Campaign For Safe Cosmetics. The have a compact that any company can sign. This pledges that company to using only known safe ingredients in their products. And you can search this compact to see which companies have signed it, and which haven't. You won't find the big names there.

And if a company has signed that compact it should make safe skin care products. You can search this compact for any company name to see if they have signed.

So that covers safety. How do you know if the company that makes those all natural skin care products actually makes good skin care products? Well the best way I know is to find a company that gives you a money back guarantee on their products. Even amongst the good natural skin care companies getting a money back guarantee is rare.

One company has both signed the compact and offer a full money back guarantee. And it's that company that makes the best all natural skin care products.

Head over to my website to find out which company.

Functional Keratin And Skin Care Explained.

May 14, 2009 by · Leave a Comment

by Peter Albertonach

If you are interested in researching a little about skin care and skin health it wont be long before you start to read about the role of keratin in maintaining your skins health. But what is keratin?

Keratin is found right throughout our bodies. It is a protein that is extremely strong and it can be found in the hard areas of our bodies like our nails and also in the softer areas of our bodies, like skin. A lot of keratin is found in our nails, teeth, hair and skin.

In our skin keratin is produced by keratinocytes, a type of skin cell in the epidermis, and this keratin has a role in keeping our skin in good health. As keratin cells come to the surface they die, and form a protective layer on the surface. And these dead cells are shed all the time as dead skin cells.

There are some important roles that keratin performs in our skin, including providing some skin waterproofing. But in particular it provides skin elasticity and skin strength.

Both these are important for optimal skin health, and as our skin ages it starts to lose some of its ability to maintain its strength and elasticity and this is due in part to a reduction in keratin.

So you would assume that it's good to use skin care products that contain keratin, but that's wrong.

You see the keratin that is used in mainstream skin care products is extracted from the horns and hooves of animals and is extracted using acid and heat. This results in the keratin being denaturalized by a process called hydrolization. Denaturalized simply means that its no longer of use to your skin because its form has been changed.

So if that's keratin what does functional keratin mean? Functional keratin is keratin that is not changed or denaturalized by the process of extracting it, and is still of use to the skin. It is produced without heat or acid from the wool of sheep.

One very small company has only very recently perfected this process and has patented it, and puts the functional keratin into a product called Cynergy TK that is used only in the very best skin care products available.

Studies on the effectiveness of products containing Cynergy TK have shown visible improvements in fine lines and wrinkles on the skin and an improvement in skin complexion.

Cynergy TK is expensive, and so the big brand name skin care products don't use it. But it is possible to get skin care products that contain Cynergy TK, and they aren't more expensive than other skin care products. Why? Because the big brands spend their budget on advertising, whereas the small niche company spends it's budget on product quality.

You'll find that the big brand mainstream anti aging products are priced to factor in all that advertising.

So theres some background on the role of keratin in the skin. And about what functional keratin is if you were wondering.

I write more about Cynergy TK on my website.

Looking For The Best Moisturizer? 4 Steps To Well Moisturized Skin.

April 11, 2009 by · Leave a Comment

by Peter Albertonach

Does that confuse you? Surly if you want great looking well moisturized skin you need to find the best moisturizer? No, and here's why, and also here's 4 steps to great looking skin that is also well moisturized skin.

There's one way to have well moisturized great looking skin that doesn't sag or feel dry, looks great, has few wrinkles and makes you feel great. It's to have healthy skin. If your skin isn't healthy skin no amount of using the best face moisturizer there is will make it like that.

I'll say it again. The key to well moisturized skin is to have healthy skin. Because healthy skin is, almost by definition, well moisturized skin. If it isn't it isn't healthy. Makes sense.

So why are you out there looking for the best moisturizer? Why aren't you trying to make your skin healthy and why aren't you using skincare products targeted to overall skin health rather than just moisturising?

So there's other things you can do to make your skin healthy other than using great skin care products?

Well there's some simple stuff. Simple but not necessarily easily. There 4 things you need to do to have great looking healthy and well moisturized skin.

1. Eat a good diet. Plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables every day. Eating a good healthy diet is exactly what you should do to get healthy overall, and healthy overall is the way to great looking healthy skin and well moisturized skin.

2. It's equally important to exercise. If you exercise it makes your blood circulation better, and better circulation is important for your skin.

3. Those are 2 things you must do, here's 2 things never to do. Don't smoke or get sunburned. Both of these do terrible damage to your skin and both of them cause more damage than great moisturizing can ever repair.

4. What's the last thing you need to do to have great skin? Use the best natural skin care products available. There are some excellent natural skin care products that are specifically targeted to improving skin health, and along the way they moisturize better than the best rated moisturizer. There's no point in just moisturizing, tackle overall skin health and skin moisture retention will do with it.

Yes the skin care products that moisturize better than any others aren't in fact a moisturizer at all. They are products that include natural moisturizers that are better than the ingredients in the big brand name moisturizers, but they aren't moisturizers. And so if you search the best moisturizers you won't even find them.

So the best facial moisturizer isn't really a moisturizer at all. And remember, there's way more you can do to improve your skin than just using the best moisturizer.

Looking For The Best Dry Skin Lotion? Here’s 3 Essential Ingredients It Must Have

April 7, 2009 by · Leave a Comment

by Peter Albertonach

I have already talked about dry skin and the causes of dry skin, and I've offered some suggestions of some easy things you can do to combat dry skin like changing your soap and shampoo.

And I have also mentioned that many big brand name anti aging skin care products can actually be harmful to your skin and can dry your skin.

And I recommended that you find and use the best quality natural skin care products, like the best dry skin lotion you can get.

In fact rather than searching for the best dry skin lotion or dry skin cream, I am suggesting that you use a product that is not directly targeted to dry skin treatment at all, but direct you to finding a product that will overcome your dry skin by improving your overall skin health.

Lets see why the worlds best natural skin care products could in fact be the very best dry skin cream for you.

The first essential factor in looking at any skin care regime is that the products do not harm your skin. That's essential. And sadly you can't take that for granted, because many big name skin care products do harm your skin.

And you absolutely must know what ingredients are in the products, because many of the big brands use chemical ingredients that are cheap, but poor quality. But there are excellent naturally occurring ingredients that work extremely well to promote overall skin health, but are expensive. Some have been used by women for centuries for their skin care properties.

Here's 3 ingredients that make one product in particular the worlds best natural skin care product and best dry skin lotion all at the same time.

1. Phytessence Wakame. What is Phytessence Wakame? It is a Japanese seaweed prized by Japanese women for centuries for the beneficial effects on the skin. It is eaten regularly in the Japanese diet.

Phytessence Wakame is full of all sorts of essential vitamins and minerals and other ingredients that are good for the skin. And as well as being generally good for healthy skin it is essential to help dry skin problems. It helps heal dry skin as well as skin inflammation and skin irritation. And if you suffer from dry skin you'll know all about these.

2. Cynergy TK. Cynergy TK is relatively newly discovered and is fully patented, and is found in only the very best skin care products in the world. It is a type of keratin that is found in your skin right now and Cynergy TK comes from the wool of sheep. It's technical and boring but suffice to say that any woman who has dry skin must be using a skin care product containing Cynergy TK.

What in effect it does is to form a thin layer of protection over your skin to help the skin retain moisture rather than lose it and it helps the skin balance it's own moisture content, both very important for great skin health and skin hydration.

3. Nano-Lipobelle H-EQ10. Nano-Lipobelle H-EQ10 is a variant on Coenzyme Q10, and a much more effective and refined version. Coenzyme Q10 is found in the cells of our bodies and diminishes with age, so we need to replace it, or our skin health declines. Now of course you've probably seen Coenzyme Q10 in many skin care products, the problem is that the form of Coenzyme Q10 used in these products doesn't actively penetrate the skin, so does little.

But Nano-Lipobelle H-EQ10 is a more modern form of Coenzyme Q10 that is able to penetrate the skin because it has extremely small molecules, and so replenishes out stores of Coenzyme Q10. It has a dramatic effect on reducing skin sagging and wrinkling and contains about 10% vitamin E, also very important for our skin health.

And as well as that it nourishes the skin and increases it's store of collagen and elastin. And this increases skin health, and also helps maintain skin moisture balance. This all of course helps combat dry skin.

Nano-Lipobelle H-EQ10 is extremely expensive.

There's the 3 most important ingredients in the world best natural skin care products which are also, in effect, the worlds best dry skin lotion because they work so well against dry skin as well as, or by, improving overall skin health.

I also should point out one more thing. These products use the best ingredients that modern technology can source. They are very expensive.

So aren't the products really expensive too? NO. And here's why. It's all about company philosophy and marketing.

The big name skin care and anti aging companies spend up big on TV advertising and marketing and spend the minimum on product quality, that's why their products contain dangerous (but cheap) chemical ingredients. But those TV ads with the big name stars cost megabucks.

The small niche skin care company which makes the products that I consider to be the best natural skin care and dry skin products available in the world today spend their budget on product quality, and don't advertise. So you've probably never heard of them.

And because you've never heard of them they offer a full money back guarantee so that potential customers can try the products risk free. That's how they do their marketing and they rely on the fact that when they have a new customer they have that customer for life.

So no, their products aren't really expensive at all, in fact they are very competitively priced. So if you've got dry skin and you've been trying all sorts of dry skin creams with little result, there is a solution and it's not about finding the best dry skin lotion, it's about using high quality natural skin care products that take care of your dry skin problem by promoting overall skin health.

That's the best way to tackle dry skin.

Explaining And Removing Age Spots.

March 28, 2009 by · Leave a Comment

by Peter Albertonach

Age spots are something that are well known to women, and men, in their later years. They can be harmless, tough annoying, but also unsightly and many women are interested in finding out more about removing age spots.

Age spots can be various colors though normally brownish or black, sometimes red. They are sometimes called sun spots or what is technically known as lentigines, and have been known as liver spots because in the past it was thought, incorrectly, that they were a sign of liver disease.

This is now discredited though.

And you ought not confuse sun spots with melanoma. Age spots are harmless but melanoma isn't and if you have any dark colored spots on your skin, either your face or any other piece of skin, get it checked out by a doctor.

What is the cause of liver spots? There are 2 simple causes, age and exposure to the sun. A combination of these two factors can result in the formation of liver spots. UV radiation is the component of sunlight that causes these spots. They are most commonly found on the face and neck, and back of the hands, because these are the areas of skin most commonly exposed to the sun.

In the top layers of the skin between the dermis and the epidermis, as we age, our skin can form collections of skin pigment. As we age our skin cells are less able to regenerate and so these form visible spots on our skin.

Should we treat these spots? Well theres several views and treatments. The first thing to remember though, as long as youve had these spots checked out by a doctor, is that you dont need to remove them from a health point of view. They are harmless and can stay there if you wish.

You may want to remove them because they look unsightly though. For many women, and sometimes men, developing liver spots is concerning because they are so visible, particularly on the face. So how do you go about removing age spots?

There's several options. Some medical. You could, for example, try laser therapy for age spots, though that seems a little unnecessary and may not be successful. Or they can be removed by cryotherapy or the use of extreme cold through, for example, the application of dry ice. In both cases I'd suggest the first stop is at your doctor.

And those aren't the only options. Modern natural skincare products are showing many good advances in reducing the appearance of age spots and if you're aging you really ought to by using good skin care products anyway.

This is because of the skin restorative effects of vitamin E which has a range of anti oxidant properties and other properties beneficial to good skin health. Of course many skin care products already contain vitamin E but you'd be surprised how little is actually in there, and usually a cheaper synthetic form is used which isn't all that effective.

Why is it in those products? So that they can put "Vitamin E" on the label to sell more product.

But the worlds best natural skin care products use a natural form of vitamin E that is at a much higher concentration.

So there's the lowdown on age spots. Or liver or sun spots if you prefer. And there's no need to remove them if you don't want to, as long as you've checked them out with your doctor first. But if you do want to remove them remember there are excellent results being achieved with top quality natural skincare products. It sure beats laser therapy.

Are You Using Safe Cosmetics?

March 17, 2009 by · Leave a Comment

by Peter Albertonach

Would you assume that the cosmetics, or perhaps the cosmetics that your daughter uses, would be safe to use. It would seem reasonable to make that assumption. We should all be able to assume that the government would protect us from dangerous products like dangerous cosmetics. Sadly it doesn't, and you need to source safe cosmetics so you're not taking a risk with your health. Are you using safe cosmetics?

Sadly no. Neither the government or the major cosmetics companies take steps to ensure that our cosmetics are safe, and as a result there is a whole range of dangerous cosmetics and skin care products on the market which contain dangerous ingredients including lead, 1,4-dioxane and paraben.

Doesn't the FDA do something about this? Sadly again, no. The FDA does not test or examine cosmetic products to establish that they are safe for human use and don't contain harmful ingredients, and even admit to this on the FDA website. The government does not act in our best interests by ensuring that the cosmetics that millions of American women use every single day are safe to use, and as a result we have dangerous cosmetics on the shelves of our major department stores.

The situation is so bad that there are now entire organizations set up to raise public awareness of this problem. Primary amongst them is one called the Campaign For Safe Cosmetics.

Sadly though the government isn't listening to the Campaign For Safe Cosmetics, and the cosmetics companies aren't listening either. There is nothing being done to protect US women from dangerous ingredients found in mascaras, bronzers, eye shadows, lipsticks, blushes and more that women here are using daily not realizing they are taking a risk with their health.

Here's a couple of examples of unsafe cosmetics for you, though there are many.

The Campaign For Safe Cosmetics initiated laboratory testing of major brand name lipsticks in 2007. The report was astonishing. More than 50% of big brand name lipsticks, including some of the biggest names that you may well use now, contained lead. And you're not even immune if you buy the most expensive brands, they were represented amongst the lipsticks that contained lead as well.

Back in 2002 laboratory tests found Phthalates in the majority of 72 different common big brand beauty, personal care and body products, including cosmetics, that most American women take for granted. This includes products from Calvin Klein, Christian Dior and Revlon. Phthalates are industrial chemicals linked to birth defects and abnormalities in male reproductive organs.

And this includes such common and everyday products like shampoos and toothpastes.

Despite the fact that Phthalates weren't listed on the labels they were found in 52 of 72 products tested.

Now is that scary or what?

Is it possible to buy safe cosmetics? Yes it is, in fact the Campaign For Safe Cosmetics runs a register of companies that are prepared to sign a compact pledging the company to make products using only known safe ingredients. And there are some excellent safe cosmetics to be found, but you won't find them on the shelves of your local store.

But I'll bet you've never heard of these small niche companies because they can't compete with the big brands on TV advertising, but nevertheless they make excellent and safe ranges of cosmetics.

Visit my website to find out more about safe cosmetics.
