Your Top Anti-aging Cream
April 10, 2009 by Jen Hopkins
Finding the best wrinkle cream for yourself probably requires you to ask a lot of questions. There are a lot of elements to consider when purchasing an anti-aging cream. Skin type is one question many women ponder. Another is finding a cream that works for specific parts of the face. Some women may want a product that can not only reduce wrinkles but help clear up troublesome acne. Even with the plethora of ingredients todayas products include, it can actually be quite simple to decide which anti-aging product to purchase.
Whatas the best cream for your type? A general rule to go by is the dryer your skin, the heavier your cream should be. Stay away from any product that has alcohol or asodium laurel sulfatea in the ingredients list. These are very drying, even for those with oily skin. Those with sensitive skin or are prone to break outs (more on that in a bit) should stay away from heavy creams, even if their skin is dry. If youare sensitive, try to find a formula that is specially made for you and stay away from added fragrances. No matter your skin type, try to find a cream thatas oil free to prevent build-up iathat makes your skin look dull.
Women of different ages have different needs when it comes to fighting wrinkles. For younger women who havenat started to develop lines yet, stick with an ordinary moisturizer with SPF 15. If you have started to develop deeper lines, look for creams labeled aregeneratinga or aage fighting.a Retinol, a substance found in Vitamin A, has shown some results in reducing wrinkles, so look for that ingredient.
Acne can affect women well into adulthood. Many women who are starting to get wrinkles are shocked that they still have acne from their teen years. Aside from reducing wrinkles, retinol also works at fighting acne, so look for that on the box, especially if your skin is on the dryer side. If your skin is on the oilier side, however, be sure to look for creams containing salicylic acid ia it stops acne quickly.
Crowas feet are a special worry because these wrinkles are often the first ones to develop. If you are a young woman with no other signs of aging, stick with your SPF moisturizer, but invest in an eye cream. Caffeine has shown some results in making eyes look more alert and less puffy, but to really fight crowas feet, try looking for something with phenylephrine. It is the active ingredient in hemorrhoid cream and many women swear by this folk remedy. Just donat get it in your eyes!
In an attempt to get women to dole out more cash, it seems that every part of your face now has a corresponding cream in the beauty aisle. Though these aspecialtya creams are really nothing more than a marketing ploy, one type of aspecialtya cream to consider is eye cream. The skin around the eye truly is different than everywhere else on your face because it is so thin. If you are prone to discoloration and puffiness, as well as crowas feet, these creams are for you.
Weave mentioned a couple of anti-aging ingredients already: retinol, caffeine, phenylephrinea but there always seems to be some fad plant add-in, like coffee berry or rose hips. In truth, there is not much to fads and often they just make the cost of a cream even higher. Simple creams with vitamin A and E are very moisturizing and help the skin fight wrinkles.
In the never ending quest against aging, women end up spending big bucks and often on the wrong products. It can be a real headache trying to navigate the different ingredients and anti-aging buzz words. But if you follow the advice above, you and your face should be all in the clear.

I not in agreement with what your saying.
Firstly let me point out that anti aging and anti wrinkle skin care should start as soon as a woman turns 20. Because from the age of 20… the average woman’s skin begin to dry out and fine lines begin to gradually form.
Therefore women are advised to change their skin care products and routines as soon as they come out of the teenage phase in life. So your suggestion that younger women should stick to moisturizers is a bit misleading (at least in my book).
Additionally…products containing SPF 15 does not provide enough protection from the sun’s harmful rays. You see…the sun is the number 1 cause of wrinkles, so one can never have enough protection from the sun. Thus if one is seriously trying to prevent wrinkles from occuring, then one should look at products containing SPF 30.
Also it is not wise to purchase sunscreen separately. Instead purchase products that already contain SPF 30. This way you prevent diluting the sunscreen with all the other ingredients that are in the product.
Now let’s look at the myth of the magic anti aging wrinkle cream.
An anti wrinkle cream doesn’t get rid of wrinkles. All they do is add moisture to the dead skin cells in the top layer of skin (the eopidermis). And in so doing…these dead skin cell swell and as a result, fine lines and wrinkles appear to be vanishing.
However the effects are not lasting. As soon as you stop using the cream…the wrinkles return. And in some cases the wrinkles return worse than before because they weren’t actually treated. Instead they were left to develop and expand.
You see there are 3 main factors that cause wrinkles. And anti aging creams do not treat any of them.
The first factor is the loss of collagen in the skin. Collagen is a protein which keeps skin tight and firm. But due to free radical damage (brought on by the sun’s rays) the collagen production declines. So the skin becomes loose and sloppy. Thus lines and wrinkles form.
The second factor is the loss of fat cells. Free radiacl damage not only damages skin cells and collagen proteins but it also destroys fat cells. And as these fat cells decline in the skin…the skin becomes thinner and hollow. Thus fine lines and wrinkles increases and deepens.
The third factor is the contraction of facial muscles. These facial muscles are connected directly to the facial skin. And as we age our muscles shrink and pull down on the skin. This Causes the skin to fold. Thus wrinkles become much deeper.
Now a wrinkle cream cannot treat these factors. Like I said earlier these creams only reach as far as the epidermis (top layer of dead skin) so whatever essential ingredients are found in the cream doesn’t make it to the dermis (the lower layer of living skin cells). So they are ineffective.
Additionally an anti wrinkle cream can do nothing to treat the contraction of the facial muscles. Think about it…
If the cream cannot even get down to the lower layers of skin…how is it going to reach the facial muscles.
Wrinkle treatment requires more than a magic night cream. And I think it would save people a lot of time and money if they knew this.
This has been very interesting. It is well-written and informative. Thank you very much for posting this.
