Take your time cleansing your skin, do not rush through it, and make sure you rinse all residue from the skin. If debris, oil, and makeup are left on the skin, the chance of clogged pores and breakouts increases greatly. It is important to choose a cleanser formulated for your skin type.

Tanning Bed Number One Precaution

June 11, 2009 by Mike Tanner · Leave a Comment

by Mike Tanner

Tanning beds work by blasting high levels of ultraviolet rays in a small concentrated amount of space. Because of the high concentration, it is more dangerous than the high levels emitted by the sun and sensitive body parts are especially at risk. That's why it is important to use proper eye protection when in a tanning booth.

Among the most sensitive organs are your eyes and it is highly advised that anyone using a tanning bed wear goggles, sometimes known as peepers. And if you are a regular tanner it is a good idea to own you own pair of peepers. It is truly a wonder why such a simple precautionary step remains ignored by some people.

Even though tanning salons will offer disposables, and they are much better than no protection at all, they usually aren't the best quality. Also, tanning salons offer a one-size-fit-all design that may not fit perfectly on everyone. Do not compromise the safety of your eyes, you need them every day.

For goggles that don't fit properly, therein lies the risk of the corners not being tightly sealed. UV radiation will definitely enter through the leak and that is enough to do some damage. Just as important as getting the right fit is keeping them on. Make sure the peepers are designed with headbands that go around the back of the wearer's head.

You can also buy disposables but they tend to be of lesser quality and do not provide same the level of protection a quality pair might. In fact, they are essentially the same as the kind provided by tanning salons. So if you are going to use a tanning bed more than just a first time, have a good quality pair that fits perfectly and you can just bring it with you every time.

Even with your eye protection on, just for added safety, many authorities recommend keeping your eyes closed for the duration of the tanning session. It is not uncommon for UV rays to damage parts of the eye beyond the point of repair, so you can never take too many precautions.

Cataracts are very common to varying degrees. More exposure to UV rays increases the amount of cataracts that could build up. If surgery doesn't go well you could very well end up blind.

Since your eyes are very sensitive they will probably be the first to be damaged and that is why it is so important to take such simple safety measures. There are other dangers associated with tanning beds, and many people are concerned with skin damage but forget about the eyes. To be a responsible user, you must keep all risks in mind and practice safety first.

Fortunately, there are other forms of sunless tanning options that can leave your skin looking well toned without blasting yourself with dangerous amounts of UV radiation. Tanning lotions are recommended by many health associations because of the relative safety they offer in contrast to other methods.

Functional Keratin And Skin Care Explained.

May 14, 2009 by Peter Albertonach · Leave a Comment

by Peter Albertonach

If you are interested in researching a little about skin care and skin health it wont be long before you start to read about the role of keratin in maintaining your skins health. But what is keratin?

Keratin is found right throughout our bodies. It is a protein that is extremely strong and it can be found in the hard areas of our bodies like our nails and also in the softer areas of our bodies, like skin. A lot of keratin is found in our nails, teeth, hair and skin.

In our skin keratin is produced by keratinocytes, a type of skin cell in the epidermis, and this keratin has a role in keeping our skin in good health. As keratin cells come to the surface they die, and form a protective layer on the surface. And these dead cells are shed all the time as dead skin cells.

There are some important roles that keratin performs in our skin, including providing some skin waterproofing. But in particular it provides skin elasticity and skin strength.

Both these are important for optimal skin health, and as our skin ages it starts to lose some of its ability to maintain its strength and elasticity and this is due in part to a reduction in keratin.

So you would assume that it's good to use skin care products that contain keratin, but that's wrong.

You see the keratin that is used in mainstream skin care products is extracted from the horns and hooves of animals and is extracted using acid and heat. This results in the keratin being denaturalized by a process called hydrolization. Denaturalized simply means that its no longer of use to your skin because its form has been changed.

So if that's keratin what does functional keratin mean? Functional keratin is keratin that is not changed or denaturalized by the process of extracting it, and is still of use to the skin. It is produced without heat or acid from the wool of sheep.

One very small company has only very recently perfected this process and has patented it, and puts the functional keratin into a product called Cynergy TK that is used only in the very best skin care products available.

Studies on the effectiveness of products containing Cynergy TK have shown visible improvements in fine lines and wrinkles on the skin and an improvement in skin complexion.

Cynergy TK is expensive, and so the big brand name skin care products don't use it. But it is possible to get skin care products that contain Cynergy TK, and they aren't more expensive than other skin care products. Why? Because the big brands spend their budget on advertising, whereas the small niche company spends it's budget on product quality.

You'll find that the big brand mainstream anti aging products are priced to factor in all that advertising.

So theres some background on the role of keratin in the skin. And about what functional keratin is if you were wondering.

I write more about Cynergy TK on my website.

Dermal Fillers – Overthrow the Outcomes of Aging

April 3, 2009 by Ryan Dale · Leave a Comment

by Scott Smith

In these modern times, our lives have become more panic and day-to-day strains take a toll on our visual aspect. Contamination from the close-set surroundings and the injurious rays of the sun too does our skin to become drier and less flexible. Together, wrinkles and folds begin to form, thus stimulating visible lines to appear at several places on our bodies. Such indictions of beforehand maturing are most observable on our faces. How do we reverse the consequence?

Several classes of Dermal fillers are licensed for use in the United States, particularly collagen-based fillers marketed under brand names like Cosmoderm and Cosmoplast, and hyaluronic-acid fillers sold-out under names admitting Restylane and Hylaform. A fresher Dermal filler called Radiesse, a phosphorus and calcium blend, is also making widespread use. Completely are derivatives of one or several of the real proteins that yield tender skin its firmness, elasticity and ability to retain wetness.

Depending on what the individual wants of the patient are, the consultant may suggest a unique filler or a combination of several fillers to attain impressive issues. Normally, before injecting the Cuticular filler, numbing medication would be topically injected or a topical dulling cream used. The Cuticular filler is injected deep into the skin at the positions of scratches, lines, folds or tubular areas. Lines are smoothened and the hollow areas given more volume. So, if old age has done the patient's cheeks to became sunken, Dermal fillers could aid.

The injections can cost around from several hundred to several thousand dollars per handling, depending upon the arenas being addressed and the number of filler essential. The issues of collagen fillers usually last betwixt three and six months, while hyaluronic acid can last up to 12 months. Radiesse degrades within a few months, but generates new collagen for roughly 15 months, yet some patient roles have covered results extended more than three years.

If reckoning fillers you should opt for a short-lived filler in most cases as any unfavorable effects such as floating of the material will be repaired by the enactment of time and the bodies' going through of soaking up the innocuous material. The practician lotting the filler shall go through compatibility trials to ensure you will not suffer from an unfavorable reaction and this is more crucial with some fillers as they are not like effective and not widely suitable for every variety of skin.

Physicians are testing to provide us with the clean facial fillers, and the all of us are crossing our fingers and desiring for that perfect, smooth, wrinkle-free skin. It reckons to me like injection fillers do not all the same perform up to the hype. But with new products showing up every day, the pure dermal filler might be just approximately here.

Things To Consider For Radiant Skin

February 25, 2009 by Matthew Chiang · Leave a Comment

by Donna Jones

Skin care is literally caring for your skin. Yes, it seems so simple but in reality everyday people are falling asleep with make-up and the daily toxins sitting on their skin eating away at their youth and elasticity. Skin care is a major issue in the modern world. Skin care is a highly complex subject matter that involves understanding your skin and its needs amidst changing environmental conditions. Proactive skin care is essential in creating and maintaining, healthy youthful skin.

The first thing you should do is really understand your skin tight. In general, all skin care categories are the same, and the coloring of your skin is really the major difference. A coloring of your skin is also known as pigmentation.

When you determine your skin type, there are factors to consider. Ask yourself if you have oily or dry skin. Next, decide on the pigment of your skin. Then decide on the elasticity of your skin.

Things to think about when determining the oily or dry skin. Oily skin will feel slick to touch, and be shiny in appearance. Dry skin feels rough and looks dull. You may even see some light scaling.

You should know that the oil glands do keep the skin moist, so it is necessary. But too much oil can be a problem, and that excess is what causes problems with acne. What you eat, how hard you work, the condition of your hormones, which medications you take, and your genetics can affect oil production.

The role of the coloring of your skin in choosing skin care products has to do how predisposed you are to coloring factors of the skin. Some of the kinds of skin coloring issues you need to think about are sun spots or freckles. These kinds of spots can affect the kind of product you chose for your skin care.

Skin sensitivity is all about your skin and it's ability to deal with different kinds of irritations. If you have sensitive skin, it will show by reddening, or becoming infected, or even showing up as acne. Rosacea a condition that does qualify in the skin sensitivity category.

Wrinkles is another of the items to consider when it comes to skin care. Too much sun will have a major effect on skin care and premature aging. Skin care products with regard to wrinkling should have some type of sun screen in them. Many products out on the market now come with some level of skin care protection.

As stated in the beginning of the article, although these factors come into play when considering your skin care regimen. Don't forget to consider oily or dry skin, the color of the skin, whether you have sensitivity, and the kind of sun exposure do it with. Looking at all these factors together will give you a solid comprehensive skin care program

When you are looking at other ways to supplement skin care, nutrition is something to consider. Drinking water is great for skin care, as it helps lubricate and keep skin moist. It helps to get out toxins. Try also drinking herbal teas. The water content, and the herbs can have a good healing effect.

If you have acne (pimples, blackheads, whiteheads or cysts) then the regime mentioned above will help but in order to tackle the problem seriously educate yourself about acne and the best possible treatments. For a really good acne skin care regimen, see your physician for medical advice.
