The History of Skincare in the Eastern World
April 14, 2011 by Emma Johnson · Leave a Comment
Whitening is one of the hottest skincare concerns, especially in the eastern world. Easterners (particularly Japanese and Chinese) think that white skin covers a hundred of other skin imperfections. As Japanese and Chinese have yellowish complexion, whitening skincare products are the best selling products among all other skincare products in China and Japan.
Light complexion was considered as a sign for elegant and educated nobles and higher social classes in the ancient China. Therefore, women in ancient China put a lot of effort to maintain light complexion. There was an oracle word meaning facial cleansing in the ancient Zhou Dynasty.
Chinese medical science has becoming more recognized by the world. In fact, medicines for skincare purpose were also found in ancient medical records in the Qin Dynasty. For example, Angelica Dahurica (Bai Zhi) was recorded as an ingredient for facial cream.
Skincare products including facial and hand creams were popular among both ordinary and noble women. Skincare products were considered as necessary by every woman.
Women in Japan put a lot of effort on skincare and cosmetic as well. In the ancient Japan, noble people lived in very big houses. These houses had very dim light. Therefore, it is easier to notice people who have white skin (lighter complexion). Such notice prevents one from crashing on the others. Therefore, noble women paint their faces in white. Since then, women with white skin (light complexion) are considered as beautiful.
The first whitening skincare product, SOIE DE REINE Beauty C Powder was introduced in Japan in 1966. This powder was produced by the famous Japanese skincare brand, Kanebo. Kanebo introduced many other whitening skincare products later on and it is still a famous skincare brand nowadays. In the last century, the concepts of UV protection and Melanin reduction have been introduced by Kanebo. Now, these concepts are still prevailing in skincare (skin whitening) industry.

November 11, 2009 by Tawanfa Farikan · Leave a Comment
If you have a strong immune system, you are less likely to have skin problems. Nevertheless it is imperative that you use night face creams and day face creams.
Most of your famous cosmetic manufacturer's include ingredients like alcohol and preservatives in their products as well as harmful chemicals -these ingredients cause long term damage. It has also been noted that people with breast cancer, on dissection and examination found these exact same chemicals present in the specimen.
Living life in the fast lane, can do damage to all your organs, and this shows up on the skin eventually. UV damage is becoming the number one factor for skin cancer, yes it t wonderful to have that tan in summer, and for a short while makes you look healthy and radiant. But over a long term period year after year excessive damage will show up, and not even the most expensive creams will help you repair this damage. Using creams on your face at night can help.
You must also bear in mind that no night or day cream treatments are a solution to ageing, they will only suffice the outer layer of the skin, but with a balanced and nutritional diet and supplements you will have lasting effects.
Another wonderful product you can use; is one that contains honey. Honey has many natural ingredients like anti-bacterial, anti-fungal properties. You will find the most wonderful night and day moisturizers containing honey which is packed with nutrients to give you a healthy skin.
Giving your skin the correct nutrients, as well as mineral and vitamin supplements, you will have the look you have always wished for. You will not only look younger but will feel better as well. It is important that you use both a day and night cream. Using only one does not complete your skin treatment, and you won't see the results you expected.
Your night face creams are important, as they have ingredients not found in your lighter day creams. Your night creams must contain antioxidants, natural oils, and emollients in order to moisturize and rehydrate the skin while you sleep.
If you use the best night face creams, wrinkles and sagging skin will ultimately save you from the knife eventually.

November 10, 2009 by Tawanfa Farikan · Leave a Comment
If you want to have great looking skin that is healthy then you will probably stock up on all kinds of skin care products including face creams. The only thing is that a night face cream can be hard to come across. One that actually works that is! You will see that many creams have ingredients that are not good for the skin at all. Many of them are in fact cancer causing. Worse still, is that these creams are expensive. So how do you find the good face creams?
Harmful Ingredients: The first thing you should do before you buy a night face cream is to look at what is inside. The ingredients will tell you a lot about the cream and if it will work or not. It will also tell you if you are getting ripped off. This is because many manufacturers use cheap alternatives that are toxic just so that they can make more money.
The harmful ingredients that you need to be careful of include parabens. These are chemicals that have been linked to cancer. They start with ethyl, propyl, butyl, methyl and others. These can cause various allergic reactions as well. Another ingredient that is cancer causing and that can create adverse skin conditions is called dioxane. This is a synthetic form of coconut.
When you are spreading face cream on, you should think about all the perfumes your cream might contain. Yes, it makes the cream smell nice, but at what cost to your skin? Other bad ingredients include the paraffin wax and liquid paraffin disguised under the ingredient name mineral oils. These suffocate the skin.
The Good Ingredients: Instead of wasting time with these terrible products, you should rather look for more natural ingredients. These are safe and using them will not cause cancer or change your skin in any way, except to make it healthier. These ingredients include collagen which is the ingredient that firms the skin.
You can also get ingredients like COQ10, Cynergy K, and Phytessence Wakame Japanese kelp.

Moreover, Clarisonic works with the skin, not against it, leading to an invigorating cleansing experience and spa-worthy results.
Developed to function as an exceptionally gentle sonic micro-massage, Clarisonic works with the natural elasticity of the skin. Most women these days do not have the luxury of time to properly cleanse their skin. Clarisonic allows women to give their skin the kind of cleaning they deserve and still have time to spare for other things. It loosens dirt, oil, and makeup in a matter of 60 seconds.

Sun damage, drying soap, harsh pollutants, oil, bacteria, and other daily stresses all play their part in wreaking havoc on your skin. All these grime will continue to sit on your skin day after day after unless you take action and give your skin proper cleansing. With Clarisonic, a minute or two is all you need for visibly healthier skin.
The Clarisonic Skincare Brush may well become your new best friend when it comes to caring for your skin. April 16, 2009 by Amber S Johnson · Leave a Comment
Organic mineral makeup has become the latest craze in the cosmetics world today. It is never a question why they've gained much popularity. All skin types are covered by this kind of makeup. This means that if you have a sensitive skin, the mineral makeup may just work out fine for you. Perhaps it has been the leading choice for most women because of its all-natural properties; it is free of chemicals which harm and irritate your skin. For most consumers, it has become the healthy choice for them and their pockets too!
Why Is Mineral Makeup a Healthy Choice?
With organic mineral makeup, the possibility of irritation and bacterial infestation are practically eliminated. Mineral Makeup contains all the natural and the highest quality botanicals and minerals. It's purely crafted from nature's best, and the results are unbelievably spectacular.
Mineral makeup contains titanium dioxide and zinc oxide, which are both responsible for a healthy looking skin. Unlike traditional cosmetic products, mineral makeup is free of talc, dye and perfume, which are all major irritants on your skin. It is made only from the finest rock elements crushed and powdered into minute particles to make it possible for facial use. Mineral makeup has a sun protective power that makes it a perfect tool to shield yourself from the harmful UV rays. All these healthy benefits can only be enjoyed if you start using mineral makeup. You will feel a healthy glow on your skin.
Why Is Mineral Makeup Better Than Traditional Makeup?
The benefits of mineral makeup over customary or conventional makeup retailed on the market nowadays are, in fact, plenty. The number one reason why almost all women make the substitute is that mineral makeup can essentially make a woman's skin appear younger. Its lightweight and silky-smooth feel gives a very natural and youthful look. The micronized particles actually sit on the skin and don't soak up into the creases; this is probably the reason why the pores don't get clogged up. Moreover, it never leaves blotches, marks and even fine lines. Organic mineral makeup truly works like no other cosmetic product.
In addition to these healthy benefitse, mineral makeup makes your skin look beautiful, too, no matter the situation. If you're working out or you've sat in the sun for a long time, sweat is not going to wash this makeup away. Mineral makeup's benefits are truly almost endless. This is why it's a good idea to try organic mineral makeup in place of your conventional makeup as soon as you can.

March 28, 2009 by Peter Albertonach · Leave a Comment
Age spots are something that are well known to women, and men, in their later years. They can be harmless, tough annoying, but also unsightly and many women are interested in finding out more about removing age spots.
Age spots can be various colors though normally brownish or black, sometimes red. They are sometimes called sun spots or what is technically known as lentigines, and have been known as liver spots because in the past it was thought, incorrectly, that they were a sign of liver disease.
This is now discredited though.
And you ought not confuse sun spots with melanoma. Age spots are harmless but melanoma isn't and if you have any dark colored spots on your skin, either your face or any other piece of skin, get it checked out by a doctor.
What is the cause of liver spots? There are 2 simple causes, age and exposure to the sun. A combination of these two factors can result in the formation of liver spots. UV radiation is the component of sunlight that causes these spots. They are most commonly found on the face and neck, and back of the hands, because these are the areas of skin most commonly exposed to the sun.
In the top layers of the skin between the dermis and the epidermis, as we age, our skin can form collections of skin pigment. As we age our skin cells are less able to regenerate and so these form visible spots on our skin.
Should we treat these spots? Well theres several views and treatments. The first thing to remember though, as long as youve had these spots checked out by a doctor, is that you dont need to remove them from a health point of view. They are harmless and can stay there if you wish.
You may want to remove them because they look unsightly though. For many women, and sometimes men, developing liver spots is concerning because they are so visible, particularly on the face. So how do you go about removing age spots?
There's several options. Some medical. You could, for example, try laser therapy for age spots, though that seems a little unnecessary and may not be successful. Or they can be removed by cryotherapy or the use of extreme cold through, for example, the application of dry ice. In both cases I'd suggest the first stop is at your doctor.
And those aren't the only options. Modern natural skincare products are showing many good advances in reducing the appearance of age spots and if you're aging you really ought to by using good skin care products anyway.
This is because of the skin restorative effects of vitamin E which has a range of anti oxidant properties and other properties beneficial to good skin health. Of course many skin care products already contain vitamin E but you'd be surprised how little is actually in there, and usually a cheaper synthetic form is used which isn't all that effective.
Why is it in those products? So that they can put "Vitamin E" on the label to sell more product.
But the worlds best natural skin care products use a natural form of vitamin E that is at a much higher concentration.
So there's the lowdown on age spots. Or liver or sun spots if you prefer. And there's no need to remove them if you don't want to, as long as you've checked them out with your doctor first. But if you do want to remove them remember there are excellent results being achieved with top quality natural skincare products. It sure beats laser therapy.

Tags: acne, health, Skin Care, skin care products, skincareThings to Consider Before a Chemical Peel
March 8, 2009 by James Laney · Leave a Comment
If you have been thinking about having a chemical peel there are some things you should be aware of and take into consideration. Any competent dermatologist is going to discuss these things with you before performing the procedure but if you are planning to do the peel yourself with an at home kit, you should fully consider all of these details. Take your time and read through this information before making your decision.
What is a chemical peel?
Before we proceed we should explain exactly what a chemical peel actually is. The skin treatment normally referred to as a chemical peel is a procedure where an acid-based lotion, cream or gel is put on the skin, usually the face, where it loosens the older dead skin cells and allows them to be rinsed away after the chemical solution has been neutralized and removed.
The process of a chemical peel actually strips the skin of its outermost layer as well as all oils and dirt from the surface and out of the pores. Exactly how much skin is removed in the procedure is determined by the acid concentration in the solution that is used as well as how long the chemicals are allowed to remain in contact with the skin before being neutralized.
Things to Think About
One of the most important considerations to take into account is your skins natural sensitivity. If you find your skin to be prone to rashes or other irritations easily, then a chemical peel may not be for you because the chemical peel is going to make these problems worse, at least for several days until your skin has fully healed from the procedure.
It is highly advised that you remain indoors for a couple of days after any chemical peel but especially after a deep peel. The reason you need to stay inside is because your skin doesnt have any of the oils it normally produces and because the layer of skin tat is now exposed has not had a chance to adjust to the air and the unseen contaminates will be irritating to it which can cause problems for you.
What to do after your chemical peel.
We are going to say again that going outdoors for the first couple of days after your chemical peel is an absolute no-no. If, however, you have no choice and must venture into the sun and weather apply a liberal coat of sun block to protect your newly exposed skin from the elements that caused you to need the procedure to begin with. Dont apply any face creams or cosmetics to your skin and try to keep from even touching it for a day or two. All of these things can introduce things to your skin that may irritate it.
While many people simply cannot afford to go to a qualified dermatologist and have to opt for an at home chemical peel, they should still make every effort to collect as much information as possible t help them decide if a chemical peel is right for them. The opinion of a qualified doctor is always the best source for this information but diligent research is the next best option when considering a chemical peel.

March 5, 2009 by Janie Samms · Leave a Comment
Isn't it strange how skin care product pricing works? There are hundreds of products out there and they have hundreds of different prices. It all depends on where you buy them. Anyplace from a medical facility to a regular department store sells them.
When it comes to buying skin care products, you might think it best to avoid the least expensive ones. After all, cheap fixes often don't work at all or are temporary. How do you know which ones are the best value, though? That's the trick.
Skin care is a tricky business. Obviously, you want your skin to look its best. You don't want to have to spend incredible amounts of money to get the best results, though. That's why you need to look for the best of both worlds and find an inexpensive treatment that actually works for you.
Choosing the product or products you want is only half the battle. The next step is getting the best deal you can on them. The easiest way to do that is to use the Internet to your advantage. By shopping online, you can save money, find bargains and sometimes even get free shipping. So, if you can wait a little while in exchange for saving a little money, shopping online is the best way to go.
Healthy skin doesn't need to be bought in a store. You can actually prevent a lot of skin damage, if you know what to do. Consider some of the following options, if you want to cut back the need to buy skin care products.
You need to think about the effects of both sun and water on your skin. Too much sun can seriously damage your skin. Water, on the other hand, is very good for it. You should try to drink lots of water every day and drink more water if you're going to be out in the sun, as well as wear the proper sun protection.
Another thing you need to consider, when it comes to skin care is the effects of alcohol, caffeine and smoking on your skin. Even second-hand smoke can damage your skin, as can excessive amounts of alcohol or caffeine. So, drink moderately, if at all, if you want to avoid skin problems later on. Also, if you smoke, consider quitting.
Last, but not least, think about how much rest you're getting. How stressed are you? How much do you sleep? Stressing out and being unable to sleep can make you and your skin feel and look awful. So, do your best to get the right amount of rest and limit the stress in your life. It'll help you avoid costly skin treatments later on.
Remember, your skin is with you for life. So, take good care of it. Do your best to prevent wear and tear. If you have to buy skin care products anyway, shop online and get the best bargains you can. That way, you'll be taking care of your bank account and your skin.
