Antiwrinkle Treatments; Which Is Right For You?

Filed under: Anti-Aging Skin Care — Roberta @ 11:32 pm

Imagine waking up one morning and not seeing yourself in the reflection in the mirror. Instead you see an older woman who resembles you, lines wrinkles and crows feet have stolen your youth. You decide it is time to take it back.

There are so many anti wrinkle treatments out there today, how do you know which one to choose? First you need to be honest with yourself about the severity of your wrinkles and the results you expect to see at the end of your treatment. You also need to look at your budget and decide how far you are willing to go to recapture your youth.

Skin Resurfacing

This is a process in which a minor surgical procedure such as dermabrasion, chemical peel or laser is preformed on the skin to reduce the appearance of wrinkles. With this method wrinkles become less visible because the skins level is actually lowered closer to the level of the wrinkle, resulting in the shadow effect wrinkles cause to be less visible. (The shadow effect is due to the fact that a wrinkle is an area of skin that has sunk lower than the overall skin level. This causes the wrinkles to be more visible since light creates a shadow to form in the lowered area exposing the flaw.) These procedures can be painful and do require some recuperation time. tenderness adn redenning may appear afterwards, but this should heal quickly. Other side effects may include; scarring, acne, infection, irregular pigmentation and hypopigmentation. Skin resurfacing is not an anti wrinkle miracle and is most effective on fine lines and acne scars. These treatments costs vary, but are always expensive.

Collagen Injections

These types of procedures are designed to raise the wrinkles closer to the surrounding skins area; this is another way to lessen the "shadow effect". To accomplish this a filler is injected directly into each individual wrinkle. The only pain occurs at the point of the injection just as it would with any type of needle in the skin. There is no down time with these types of anti wrinkle treatments and you can immediately go about your normal skin care routine. There are a few options with injections. You can choose to use bovine collagen. Bovine collagen is derived from the skin tissue of cows. It is sterilized, purified and processed and then injected into the skin. Autologen collagen is from your own skin that was gathered during a previous procedure. Isolagen collagen comes from your own skin as well but it is then cloned in a laboratory before being processed into liquid collagen. Dermalogen is gathered from skin donated from a cadaver. It is sterilized, purified and processed before being used. Botox, Radiance, Restylane, and Hyalaform are all injectable materials that some people feel give better and longer lasting results. Collagen injections cost between $300.00 and $1,500.00 per session and usually take a few sessions to obtain desired effects. In addition future maintenance injections may be necessary.

Face Lifts

This is the most drastic anti wrinkle treatment. It is a surgical procedure in which the skin it actually pulled tighter by the surgeon. Incisions are made into the skin; their locations depend on the type of facelift you choose to undergo. Four types of face lift surgeries are available; lower facelift (standard), mid face lift, mini face lift (weekend face lift), and thread face lift. Each one offers different results, tightens a different face part and has different recovery times. Face lifts generally cost about $6,000.00 for the surgery alone. This does not include any of the other incidentals that are part of the face lift procedure.

Wrinkle Creams

This option is often overlooked by people. They feel that their wrinkles could not possibly be lessened by a mere cream, they would however be wrong. It is true that many of the face creams on the market do not have the capability to do much for your skin. Yet there are some options out there that can. The best anti aging wrinkle cream is made of natural ingredients. Plant oils, glycerin, plant extracts, vitamins, minerals, witch hazel and seaweed are all good ingredients. Choosing a cream that is not all natural can cause unwanted effects. Parabens, mineral oils and fillers (such as animal fat) can be used in some creams and some of these have been known to cancer, depressive disorders, and stress disorders. Choosing skin care products that have antioxidant ingredients can help reduce the damages caused by free radicals. The antioxidants join damaged cells and then go to work to prevent further damage and repair the damage that has already been done. The advantage of the creams is not only reversing signs of skin damage due to aging, but also their no-pain, no-risk application at a fraction of the cost of other methods .

Better Skin Care

For us us to keep a healthy lifestyle, we need to have a proper diet plan. If those stressful wrinkles on your skin or face are not the things that you would like to see, then recognizing the types of food that are healthy to eat to avoid those lines is just the most essential thing that you should do.

Better Skin Care

1 - Green leafy veggies such as spinach plants comprise lutein that maintains the skin's hydration and elasticity through the essential antioxidant mechanism that it gives thus it is a must-have in your everyday consumption. If practicable, this vegetable should be eaten daily with the measurement for a consumption of about 10mg or 4oz.

2 - Beans are another because they are rich in antioxidants. From the many variants of beans, choose the one that has the highest number of antioxidants such as the red beans since it helps in replacing the skin's degenerated collagen.

3 – Tomato plants are also good to consume not only because they too contain antioxidants, but also because they have lycopene that can really be good for you. This is a compound that lowers the risk of developing cancer and happens to be more potent than Vitamin E supplements which are used to help the skin stay healthy. If you are fond of consuming pasta, salad or a sandwich, then you are more likely to relish taking tomatoes as well since you can combine them together.

4 - aside from veggies, turkey helps prevent wrinkles because it is full of Vitamin B. Thanksgiving is not the only time wherein you would like to feed on this since it can really be good in a way that the action in the skin known as cross-linking is slowed down by the protein that it incorporates.

5 - Free radicals can harm the skin, consequently, eating goji berries is recommended since they are rich in Vitamin C that can help battle those radicals. Believe it or not, they comprise 500 times more Vitamin C per ounce than you get from an orange. What can make the skin look more supple and more youthful that is held in these berries is what we call as the linoleic acid as it fattens up the skin and antioxidants such as vitamin B1, B2, B6 and E are also included in them.

Wrinkle Fighting Foods

6 – What is rich in 6 fatty acids as well as Omega 3 is the thing called linseed. Combining this with other dishes like cookies and bread is indeed a good idea. If you want to hide away or prevent those lines from coming, you better consume this stuff more sometimes as this will make your skin cells plumper.

7 - Beetroot is another veggie that can help avoid lines as it is low in gram calories and high in fiber. Antioxidants are also held in this as well as the one that helps collagen production in the skin in the form of a pigment known as anthocyanins. Curried, boiled, roasted and pickled are just a few of the ways which you can cook this stuff.

8 – Chocolates are generally eaten by numerous of us only as a form of a dessert or simply as a delightful snack. But there are only a few who know that active oxygen in the body can induce aging and a compound called the polyphenol that is contained in these chocolates can help eliminate those. Not only that, it can also safe-guard against UV harm which is also one of the reasons for skin aging.

9 – Akin to linseed, salmon can also lower inflammation and may help lubricate the skin since it also comprises Omega 3 fatty acids.

There are other things we can eat apart from the nine cases mentioned to avoid creases from occurring. If you want to know how to efficient plan your diet program, you should consult with your physician as he can suggest the one that best suits you or make your own research to equip yourself with the necessary facts about it.

Apart from eating, you shouldn't forget to exercise regularly and drink a great deal of water so your skin remains flexible and hydrated at all times. Avoid having habits such as drinking alcohol or smoking as these will hamper you from getting that crease free and young looking skin.

Stretch Marks: Why They Appear And What To Do

Filed under: Natural Skin Care — Roberta @ 5:05 am

Stretch marks may be that one skin condition you hate getting, especially during the summer. This skin lesion may prevent you from wearing a bathing suit at the beach or getting undressed in front of your girlfriends. Stretch marks that appear on the stomach occur as a result of great weight gain and loss, often due to pregnancy. Stretch marks during pregnancy are unattractive, reddish purple marks covering your hips and breasts, but are particularly inclined to affect your belly.

How Stretch Marks can be avoided

Stretch marks are produced when the skin is shoved past its ability to stretch, producing tiny tears. Upon healing, these tears are replaced with scar tissue. These rippled and pale scars are what we call striae, or stretch marks. Because scar tissue contains less pigment than normal skin, they stay paler than the rest of your skin when you tan. Striae often begin as red, angry ripples, which slowly turn into silvery white ripples as the years go by.

The skin besides being a wonderful organ happens to be the longest in your body and most complex. Collagen and elastin, two proteins that give skin its binding nature and elasticity, allow the skin to stretch to extremes. When our skin doesn't have the necessary amounts of collagen and elastin, stomach stretch marks can appear. In order to avoid stretch marks, it is helpful to rub a high quality cream that contains elastin and collagen regenerative triggers. By rubbing this it will trigger into your skin, two times a day you can help your skin's recovery. This is not done with a cream that contains bovin collagen or elastin, ingredients that only achieve a temporarily moist attraction to your skin. This is done by using a cream that contains elements similar to those found in our own bodies. You can also use a cream that triggers the replacement of flawed skin cells and the production of new collagen and elastin to repair striae that have already occurred.

There are some creams that utilize natural activators like those of your body's own regenerative processes to avoid and eliminate stretch marks. These creams trigger and regulate an orderly production of collagen, elastin and GAGs and the replacement of flawed skin with healthy skin cells.

With regular use (two times a day for a period of time depending on how serious the blemishes are) these types of cream dissolves flawed cells, gently dissolves skin lesions, shrinks and even erases all signs of stretch marks. It also destroys pathogens and triggers the regeneration of normal collagen, improving elasticity.

Important Information About Laser Hair Removal Dangers

Filed under: Skin Care Facts and Tips — Roberta @ 2:30 am

Side effects of laser hair removal are rare, but prospective customers should be aware of them. Following is a brief overview about some laser hair removal risks, their remedy and treatment.

Scarring
Most customers naturally worry about the possibility of scarring when undergoing removal of hair by laser treatment. While this has been known to happen in the past, particularly in customers with darker skin, nowadays the new laser equipment has all but eliminated this problem.

Crusting of the Dermis
10% of customers treated for laser hair removal treatment with long-pulsed ruby and alexandrite lasers may suffer from crusting. This is often because of repeatedly over treating an area of skin with laser. For these customers, appropriate postoperative care is highly recommended in order to avoid further problems.

Wound Infection
Wound infection is rare after laser treatment. If by chance any wounds are to be seen on the skin after laser hair removal treatment, infection can be controlled with antibiotic and anti viral creams.

Reddening
The skin may be temporarily reddened after significant laser exposure. It is one of the minor side effects of laser hair removal. Proper cooling and the use of proper exposure time during the therapy minimizes this problem.

Skin Blistering
With the development of new and efficient cooling equipment, blistering has been mostly eliminated as a risk effect of laser hair removal. Tissue cooling can be performed through a contact chill tip or ice-like spray to cool the skin. These measures serve to cool the skin from excessive thermal abuse.

Hyper Pigmentation
Regardless of the type of laser employed, there may be hyper pigmentation of skin after treatment with lasers. In this condition the skin becomes darker because of increased pigment deposition. Usually darker skin is more prone to suffer from this. The good news is that it can be effectively treated with the use of bleaching creams and is only temporary.

Skin Lightening
Lightening of the skin, or hypo pigmentation, can occur, especially in darker skin types and where there are multiple exposures to laser treatment. It normally is only temporary; permanent hypo pigmentation is almost unknown. This problem is mostly experienced with use of alexandrite, Q-switched ruby and Nd:YAG lasers.

Darkening of Tattoos
If you have tattoos in the area of skin being treated, bear in mind that darkening may happen and discuss this with your clinician before undergoing laser treatment.

The Risk of Eye Injury
Laser eye safety is vitally important during any therapy involving lasers. To safeguard yourself from any damage to the eyes, wavelength-specific laser safety eye protection gear must be employed by both operators and customers.

How Concerned Should You Be?
laser hair removal treatment is normally a safe therapy and these side effects are very rare. side effects of laser hair removal can be reduced by having a proper knowledge of the therapy and selecting a good hair removal laser clinic and a well reputed clinician who takes care of customers after treatment difficulties and uses new and well maintained laser equipment.
